Estate & Heirloom Records Support · Kuala Lumpur
When the papers matter
and the time is not right for pressure.
Bequestly works quietly alongside families who have just realised how much is held in a household — the letters, the objects, the records no one has sat down with yet. We catalogue, organise and describe. We do not interpret, advise or contact anyone on your behalf.
What we offer
Three ways we can help a household
Each engagement is purely administrative and informational. Nothing is valued, filed or interpreted for a regulated purpose. We encourage families to consult a qualified professional for anything beyond description and organisation.
First Conversation & Inventory Note
RM 47090-minute conversation · write-up within 3 working days
A ninety-minute conversation for a family that has just realised it does not know what exists. There is nothing to prepare. The coordinator listens, asks a short list of ordinary questions — what rooms, what devices, what people, what decades — and afterwards writes a two-page note describing the likely shape of the household's records.
- Two-page inventory note after the conversation
- A category guide for the household's record types
- Written list of questions to take to a qualified professional
Document & Object Catalogue
RM 2,2406 sessions across 6 weeks · up to 150 catalogue entries · one household
A six-week engagement producing a single catalogue covering both papers and objects a household holds. Papers are grouped, referenced and indexed; objects are photographed on a neutral ground, measured and given a provenance line in the family's own words. Everything is cross-linked.
- Printed and digital catalogue, both delivered
- Reference labels and provenance notes
- Cross-link index and storage condition checklist
Chronicle Programme
RM 4,700Up to 20 sessions across 20 weeks · multiple homes · full archive
A five-month programme for families holding long histories across several homes. Papers and objects are inventoried, sorted, scanned, referenced and catalogued to one convention. The coordinator writes an orientation document that reads as prose — where things are, what is known, who told us, and what remains uncertain.
- Inventory, indexed archive and object catalogue
- Written orientation chronicle and open-questions register
- Three family walkthrough sessions and a review calendar
Why families choose this approach
What careful organisation makes possible
A record that stays in the family
Everything we produce goes to the family on storage they own. No third-party platform, no ongoing subscription, no data held by us.
Work paced to the household
Sessions are arranged around the family's schedule, not ours. There is no pressure to move faster than feels right, and no penalty for pausing.
Clear scope, written down
Each engagement has a written scope. We describe and organise; we do not interpret, value, draft or advise on regulated matters. Families know exactly where our role ends.
Better conversations with professionals
A organised catalogue helps solicitors, notaries and valuers work more efficiently. We always write a list of open questions for families to carry into those conversations.
Suited to Malaysian households
We work in English and are familiar with households that hold records across generations and in more than one language. Nothing is out of scope for cataloguing.
No regulated advice given
We are not solicitors, valuers or financial advisers. We say so plainly, and we do not cross those lines. That clarity is itself a form of care.
Ready when you are
Most families begin with a short written enquiry.
There is no form to complete right now. Write to us in your own words — what you are holding, roughly what you are hoping to do, and what pace feels right. We will reply within two working days.

Questions we are asked most often
Ordinary questions, straightforward answers
What exactly do you do — and what don't you do?
We sort, describe, photograph, reference and catalogue documents and objects. We write up what we find in plain language. We do not give legal, financial or valuation advice, and we do not contact any institution, authority or professional on your behalf. If something we find requires a qualified professional, we say so in writing and leave that step to you.
How soon after a bereavement can we begin?
There is no rule about timing. Some families contact us within a few weeks; others wait a year or more. The work itself does not become harder with time — and we are not going anywhere. The First Conversation is often a gentle way to begin, even if a full catalogue is months away.
We have documents in Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese — can you still catalogue them?
Yes. We describe documents in terms of their physical form, date range, handwriting style and approximate subject — we do not need to translate every line to catalogue something usefully. Where translation would add meaning, we note that in the open-questions register for a professional or family member to address.
What happens to our papers and objects during the work?
Everything stays with the family. We work at the household or at a location the family chooses. Nothing leaves your care. Photographs are taken for cataloguing and delivered to you — we do not retain copies after the engagement closes.
How much does the work cost, and what is included?
The First Conversation and Inventory Note is RM 470. The Document and Object Catalogue is RM 2,240. The Chronicle Programme is RM 4,700. Each engagement has a fixed scope; there are no hourly rates and no charges for additional correspondence within the engagement period. We discuss scope in writing before any work begins.
Can we start with the conversation and decide about a catalogue later?
Yes. Each engagement stands on its own. The First Conversation is designed precisely for families who are not sure what they have or what they need. The inventory note it produces will make any subsequent decision — catalogue, professional referral, or simply better storage — much clearer.
If something is not covered here, the most direct route is to write to us. We read every enquiry and reply in plain language.
